We visited Middle Street Resource on 30th September for some and appreciated the help with banner making banners. Then followed some rundance. (see happenings page for pictures) Middle Street Resource is one of the view remaining centres which is open during the day for people using mental health services. Sadly, along with the other ones run by the county council it is threatened with closure. This feels extremely unjust. On the day we were there, it was pretty busy, there were a number of different groups making using of the space. It feels like a safe haven for people who come far and wide to feel like they have somewhere to be and belong. It seems to us, very questionable whether it would be a wise move to lose such provisions and not provide any alternatives. More information about the centre and the campaign to keep it open is here along with an email about the petition to try to keep it open.
There is also an opportunity to comment on the consultation which ends quite soon, on October 6th. The link below takes you to the frequently asked questions about the consultation with a further link to make comments on it at the bottom of that page. FAQ about consultation
